This is a personal ask to my friends and those who are a part of my online life. I am in charge and every penny goes to the objective.

In a hurry? Here is the TL;DR & click here to skip to donating.

Modest Goal: Raise at least $600
Recipient: Daniel Owens — homeless Vietnam Veteran, stuck in Columbia with no assistance and serious medical issues
Purpose: Every dollars goes to getting Daniel back home to Maine where he has some support, doctors waiting on him, and access to benefits that will allow him to stabilize and even enjoy life.
Expenditures: bus ticket, food, 1-night hotel before trip, prescription refill, some miscellaneous items and some cash for the unknown.
Disclosure: Contributors will be added to a private channel for updates, questions, and tracking expenditures. I’ll make sure Daniel can access and can talk to those who are supporting him. We will accept limited donations of material goods, such as upgrading his baggage. (please email me for details) The goal is relatively small, but I am happy to be transparent.

Words fail in these situations. I cannot relate the emotional stress and feeling of helplessness these guys experience. For the last couple of months I have experienced that same rollercoaster. Working with the homeless has a lot of bad endings. But not this time. We as a citizenry really have failed the Vietnam generation. I see the guilt they carry and its unreal. But right now we have a chance to do some real good and have a positive impact.

For those who know me, I wouldn’t be making this request if I wasn’t fully committed. I just can’t do it alone. You know I would never ask anyone to give money unless I had no choice.

I am here on bended knee on his behalf. Every donation goes to saving a good man, a war veteran, and someone who’s earned a helping hand.

Our Homeless Vietnam Veterans are visible everywhere, but are rarely seen.

A small donation to save a life. That’s the math.

Donations cover travel home to Maine, food for the trip (the bus is multi-day), medicine, basic needs for his arrival, and some cash in his pocket to keep him safe, and more.

Contributors will be added to a private channel where you can ask questions, see our list of needs, and track expenditures. Depending on the item, we are accepting some material donations (upgrading his baggage, etc) I’ll also get Daniel on so he can talk to those of you kicking in.

Time is everything. If you can:

Applying for assistance in for the homeless in SC stumped me — failed at every turn.
